Every morning lately I wake up and find me gone
I feel a weight on my shoulders and I think of movin' on
Looked to the sky saw a black wing gull soar for miles on a
boundless wind
With no need to understand what carries him
Rising up falling down goin' round in ageless circles
Spotlight upstaging all our wanderings
Chasing dreams and desires
They don't know their distance from the fire
That shines on everyone

Walking To The Sun by Peter Mayer/Mac McAnally/Vince

Every once in a while on my travels through airports, I find
myself walking on a "moving walkway" which isn't moving. For some
reason the path isn't moving. As I look to the side of me at people not on the
walkway who seem to be getting father ahead than I am, I get impatient with my
progress or speed. Of course, comparisons like that (whether they be on moving
walkways or at other points of life) are not necessarily helpful.

One of the projects which I have been working on at my place
of work is entitled "Promoting Healthy Behaviors." I'm very
energized and delighted to be working with a group of people who want to help
people increase their physical activity, eat nutritious foods and practice
other healthy behaviors. We talk a great deal about conveying the right message
to folks who are bombarded daily with all kinds of messages. I've seen
estimates that most people receive about 18,000 messages per day (and I get
that many from spam at just one of my e-mail addresses). But, how do we convey
a message that is inviting, engaging and liberating? How do we encourage our
constituents to get more active as opposed to discourage them with just one
more "should" or "ought" or "got to"?
I was reading 1 John 1 when I stumbled across the following
three verses. In a very wonderful way which is concise, light and quite clear,
the message shines for all to see and experience:
"This is the message we have heard from him and
proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. 6If
we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we
lie and do not do what is true; 7but if we walk in the light as he himself is
in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his
Son cleanses us from all sin." ( I John 1:5-7)
I invite you to walk in the light
Walkin' to the sun
With the Son
Let it shine,
