"These days of winter have come to bury you
No sign of spring and no promise to carry you
No flowers blooming in your window sill
And the beat of your heart is too still.. Oh sing
Joy joy joy in the morning
Joy Joy in the afternoon
Joy joy joy for the child is born
This night the promise is given to you"
Sing Joy by Peter Mayer
(RTG was traveling yesterday and out of the office,
so today's devo is an encore presentation,
first published on March
12, 2007.)
One day when I was up in the mountains, I took a photo of
the snow. The words of Peter's song were going through my head. Now, where you
live maybe it still looks like this. Or perhaps it never looks like this where
you live. Maybe, this is how you feel deep down in your soul.
As Peter sings, "No sign of spring and no promise to
carry you."
Now, if your spiritual life has always been a "day at
the beach," then good for you, and remember to put on sunscreen. However,
if you have felt some "winter" or "cold" days in your walk
with God, today's devo is for you.
If you feel "chilly," my prayer for you is that
the Light of Christ will bring some warmth to your life. If you are feeling
like things are too "heavy" or perhaps too "dark," then my
hope for you is that someone will let their light shine and help carry your
load.
"Through trials and darkness fear and temptation
You look for deliverance and some revelation
With no song of spring you wait for the call
Could there be nothing at all... Oh Sing
Joy joy joy in the morning
Joy Joy in the afternoon
Joy joy joy for the child is born
This night the promise is given to you"
And to those of you who feel God's gracious rays of love and
peace,
Let it shine on those who live in the shadows.
Peace,
RTG
