H2odevos p4p Lent 2013 “Prodigal”
Fourth Sunday in Lent
"What if Love was a shepherd's eye
Could see one lost for the ninety nine
And Faith and hope were a tiny seed
That could bloom into a family tree?"
Still In One Peace by Peter Mayer
Today’s
devo is going to be short, but sweet. I’m still in Charlotte with Sue Ann, our
adult kids, their significant others and my family of origin. Of course, my
father who died 5 plus years ago and my mom who died 8 years ago will be with
us in Spirit and memories.
In today’s Gospel lesson we hear about the
Prodigal Son. The word “prodigal” means extravagant. Helmut Thielecke and
others have pointed out that when it comes to “extravagance,” it was the
“Waiting Father” who really delivered the goods. On the other side of things,
the elder son was “extravagant” with his anger.
So,
blessings today, thank God we have a God who is Prodigal when it comes to
grace.
