Faith in Angels

"Faith" created by Delia Stewart

"Have a little faith in angels
You never know where they might be
Have a little faith in angels
And you might begin to see
You could have a little faith
in you and me"

Faith in Angels by Roger Guth and Peter Mayer

In the epic miniseries THE BIBLE that we are watching as a congregation this Lent, there is the appearance of what I would call "ninja angels." These guys are warriors and would not be associated with greeting cards, cupids or any kind of precious moments.

Several responses from our first week of viewing Episode 1 and also looking at a specific clip of the "Binding of Isaac" has people observing that during the books of Genesis and Exodus, there seems to be a great deal of violence. Anyone who has done a Bible survey course would come to the same conclusion.

Yesterday morning in our discussion group about THE BIBLE, I shared with the participants that as the story unfolds in Scripture, it is important to realize that the understanding of God also unfolds. So, a fair question would be, "who changed?"  Did God change or did the people's perception of God change? Or both?

I promised Cynthia Tanner, who sends out these devos, that today's message was going to be short. SO, it is! But, what I'd like you to think about is how you imagine or think about angels. What pictures work for you?

Blessings,
Pastor Ron
